To list his best points, the late William F. Buckley, J., was a pampered-from-birth, extravegantly self-indulgent, gasbag who spent his life trying to hide the fact that he had nothing constructive to say behind a veneer of polysyllabic verbiage. Peel the layers off the onion and all you’ve got is just another jackass with a fancy checkbook.
And things go steeply downhill from there.

Gore Vidal had the range on this guy 40 years ago. Something about fascism, as I recall. Vidal would be the perfect choice to deliver Buckley’s eulogy, don’t you think?
